New Member
caitlin.jpgCaitlin McCormick was officially welcomed into the club at our meeting on Tuesday April 27. She is temporarily living in McLean and working at Cafe Deluxe in Tysons Corner. Her sponsor, Mitra, had been talking about Kiwanis for 5 years and Caitlin decided it was time to give it a try. Caitlin has enjoyed volunteering at many projects like Shelter House Casino Night and the UUCF Yardsale. Caitlin also deserves special props for attending several socials and board meetings
.

UUCF Yard Sale - May 1st
Stacy, Kristina, Carly, Sebastian, and new member Caitlin volunteered at the UUCF Yard Sale early on Saturday morning around 8:30am.  Items were already setup so we primarily were stationed at the clothing tables to refold items, keep items in their respective category by sex and size, and generally keep the tables tidy.

Adopt-A-Highway - May 2nd
On a warm Sunday morning Adam, Caitlin and Mitra spent some time cleaning up our "adopted" highway - Haycock Road, between Rt.7 and Haycock Elementary School. In just an hour and a half, they were able to fill 3 large bags of trash. They received several "thank yous" from pedestrians and were happy to do a good deed for the community.

Hunks with Heart for Ronald McDonald House Charities - May 7th
Ladies, mark your calendars for next year!  Every May, Ronald McDonald House Charities holds a Hunks with Heart fundraiser.  This fundraiser combines a silent auction with a "hunk auction".  The hunks ranged this year from a latin dance instructor to the ABC7 morning weatherman. Mitra and Stacy volunteered at the event on May 7.  They got to have fun, hang out with RMDH staff members, and, most importantly, hang out with the hunks!  Guys, mark your calendars, too! They need volunteer hunks for registration, tracking auction bids, and escorting lovely ladies.  Our club loves supporting RMDH and this is a great new way to support them.  Make plans to join us next year!
