  President's Message Back to Top

Welcome to 2010! The Kiwanis Club of Tysons Corner is great because of the contributions that our members make. Every club member is a member of one of our committees that guide the activities of the club, from service to socials to service leadership programs. However, everyone is encouraged to contribute to any committee. If you have an idea for a service project, social event, or any other club activity, please let the appropriate committee chair (listed below) know!

Thanks,
Stacy Bruss
Club President, 2009-2010

  Membership Updates Back to Top
  New Member
Please welcome our newest member, Sebastian Andews, into the club. He was inducted at our January 12th meeting with Jim as his sponsor. He has been involved in the club since November and has already participated in club socials such as our Holiday Dinner, helped out with projects such as our Wreaths Across America project and has been helping planning our new fundraiser with the Scavenger Hunt committee. We know he'll be a great new addition to our club!
Past Service Projects Back to Top

Safe Sitter Class - Dec 6th
Nothing special to note, just our standard Safe Sitter class at Pinecrest in December.

Wreaths Across America - Dec 12th
This is an annual event we volunteer with the Wreaths Across America organization. Dave, Beth L., Stacy, Corey G., Rory, Adam, Kristina, Mitra, Anh, Jim, Matt, Sebastian, Beth B., prospective member Eric, prospective member Lourdes, a member of the NVHS Key Club, and guests came out to help lay wreath(s) on the tombstones of fallend soldiers/veteran at the Arlington National Cemetry on this cold winter day. A lunch social followed at Whitlow's in Arlington.

Holiday Basket Project with Our Daily Bread - Dec 14th
As the club does every year, we adopted a family through Our Daily Bread for the holiday season. Various members of the club signed up to buy items for the holiday basket and Corey G. and Adam collected the items to delivery to our adopted family.

Holiday Gift Wrapping for Literary Council of Northern Virginia - Dec 24th
Stacy
volunteered with LCNV to wrap gifts at the Borders in Tysons Corner and collected donations to help raise money for the organization.

Habitat for Humanity – Jan 23rd
Since our ASPAN project was cancelled, this project was scheduled instead. Stacy, Mitra, Kristina, Carly, and Sebastian helped our local Habitat for Humanity with construction on the Maple Ridge condos in Fairfax.

Club Social at National Christmas Tree - Dec 18th
Members of the club (Jim, Stacy, Adam, and Sebastian) got together to have dinner in DC and to see the National Christmas tree for some holiday fun.

Since we did not have a club meeting that night, some members (Adam, Corey G., Kristina, and Nicole) got together for a dinner social at Jason's Deli in Falls Church.

Club Social at On the Border in Tysons Corner – Jan 21st
A large group of us (Stacy, Jim, Sebastion, Scott, Anh, Libby, Adam, and Beth B.) gathered together for some chips & salsa, drinks, and fun times at the On The Border in Tysons.

  SLP Updates Back to Top

Not much to update on our SLPs as most of them were out for Winter Break for a good part of December/January.

Division 20 Key Club had their Winter Rally and LTG Elections on January 10th. There was actual competition for the position LTG, which demostrates how strong the leadership is in this division.
