STEWART “STEW” ROSS

KIWANIS INTERNATIONAL TRUSTEE
Stewart “Stew” Ross, of North Mankato, Minnesota, was elected to a three-year term as a Kiwanis International Trustee in June 2009, at the 94th international convention in Nashville, Tennessee.
Stewart is a 20-year member of the Kiwanis Club of Mankato, Minnesota, where he served as club president in 1997. He is a past-distinguished lieutenant governor and governor of the Minnesota-Dakotas District, past-distinguished president and secretary of the Kiwanis Club of Mankato and was a former Kiwanian of the Year for the Mankato club.
Stewart serves as director of new club building and membership growth for the district, as well as president of the Minnesota State University Kiwanis Club. He is a life member of Kiwanis International, a George F. Hixson Fellow, Tablet of Honor recipient and member of the Heritage Society of the Kiwanis International Foundation. At Kiwanis International, he serves on the growth committee and task force for leadership education and previously served on the diversity task force. He is current chairman of the diversity committee.
Director of the Center for Teaching Excellence in Teaching and Learning at Minnesota State University, Stewart also directs chorale music at the First Congregational Church, Mankato, Minnesota, and is a trombonist with the Minnesota Valley Brass Quintet.
At Minnesota State University, Stewart has received the Dean’s Diversity Award, Service Award and been recognized as a professor of the year. He also is chairman of the Development Committee for Kids Against Hunger in Mankato, Minnesota. He holds a Ph.D. in Music Education from Northwestern University.
Stewart and his wife, Elizabeth “Liz” Lawrence-Ross, are the parents of two children.
