KIWANIS INTERNATIONAL IMMEDIATE PAST PRESIDENT

Don Canaday, of Fishers, Indiana, is immediate past president of Kiwanis International, having served as international president in 2008-2009. He previously served as a trustee and vice president.

Don is a more than 20-year member and distinguished charter president of the Kiwanis Club of Meridian Hills. He has been a member of three other Kiwanis clubs with nearly 40 years of membership. He served as governor of the Indiana District in 1997-98.

Before his election to the international board, Don served on three international committees and as an ambassador to the Iodine Deficiencies Disorders Worldwide Service Project. He is a life member of Kiwanis International and a Diamond-level George F. Hixson Fellow, Tablet of Honor recipient and Heritage Society charter member of the Kiwanis International Foundation.

Don is a retired U.S. Army officer and retired business executive. He served 21 years of active duty and four years in the Indiana Guard Reserve, attaining the rank of brigadier general. He is a highly decorated combat veteran.

In addition to his Kiwanis involvement, he has served as a Scoutmaster, president of Veterans Day Council, state and region president of the Association of the U.S. Army, national vice president and board member of the Association of Retired Americans, and USO Council. He is a member of his church’s fundraising and budget committees.

Don enjoys golf, bridge and Civil War history. He has six children, 17 grandchildren and was married to the late Linda Canaday for 27 years.
