KIWANIS INTERNATIONAL TRUSTEE


Bernie Knott of Shenandoah Junction, West Virginia, was elected to a three-year term as a Trustee of Kiwanis International at the 92nd International Convention in San Antonio in July 2007.

Bernie a 21-year member and past distinguished president of the Kiwanis Club of Shepherdstown.  He served as governor of the West Virginia District in 2000-01 and as district secretary 2001-05 with distinguished honors in both offices.   He holds Life Member status in Kiwanis International and is a Heritage Society member and Diamond Hixson Fellow of the Kiwanis International Foundation.

Before joining the International Board, Bernie served on three International Committees.

Bernie is an educator and school administrator who was attracted to Kiwanis when he encountered Key Club.  He has been a Key Club advisor for all 21 years of Kiwanis membership.  In addition to his involvement in Kiwanis, Bernie has been active in Farm Bureau, 4-H, Farmers Cooperative, School Improvement Council, Math Field Day, and Ministerial Association. He is also a member of MENSA.  In 1995 he was honored with the West Virginian of the Year award.

Bernie and his wife, Adele, are parents of six children and have six grandchildren.
