In April 2012, Kiwanis clubs in the Cape Cod area came together on Kiwanis One Day with area Key Clubs, an Aktion Club and a K-Kids club to help clean up Dream Day on Cape Cod’s Camp Nan-Ke-Rafe, located in Nickerson State Park.
Dream Day on Cape Cod is an organization that supports children with life-threatening illnesses and their families. Camp Nan-Ke-Rafe provides these families with a fun, family camping experience away from the routine of hospitals and doctors.
The clubs cleaned up leaves and other debris at the camp and painted cabins. The April Kiwanis One Day event was the first of a few service days needed to get the camp ready for the summer season.
“It feels great to know you are helping a great cause,” said Brian Morrison, vice president of Hyannis Kiwanis Club. “It may not be a world difference, but to those people receiving the gift, it’s a world of difference to them.”
Attention: Clubs that participate in Kiwanis One Day should report the events on the online monthly report form. This helps Kiwanis track and measure service projects, participation, and help improve our programs. However, if you are requesting a banner patch, please note that you should complete the online banner patch form. Patches will be sent only once per year, on or around October 1. For clubs that also participate and request banner patches for Read Around the World and Young Children Priority One projects, patches will be sent at that time too.
